Andy William's is right about one thing, Christmas is definitely "the most wonderful time of the year!" Who doesn't love Christmas? Of course, Mr. Scrooge does not count but after having a visit from the 3 Christmas spirit, he also changed his mind.
Here are some traditions that has been going on for generations
1. Christmas Tree
It is not known as to when the ever green fig tree was used as a Christmas tree. Pagans used the tree during winter time and decorate it to remind them that Spring is almost coming.
2. Gift Giving and Receiving gifts
Probably one of the best traditions in this holiday. The history of gift giving and receiving gifts goes far back as to when Jesus was born. Gift giving and Receiving gifts is a reminder to us on the presents the 3 Kings gave to Jesus.
3. Christmas eve dinner
This is the time where everyone comes home and will have a warm and hearty meal during Christmas Eve. There are different types of meal to prepare during Christmas Eve on different parts of the world. But one things for sure, there's food on the table!
4. Attending the Midnight mass
Catholics attend the mass on Christmas Eve to await the birth of Jesus Christ which is believed that he was born at night.
5. Santa Claus
Santa Claus, also known as Saint Nicholas, is a legendary figure of Western culture who is said to bring gifts to the homes of nice children on Christmas Eve (24 December) and the early morning hours of Christmas Day.
These are just a few traditions we all know and love and there are probably a lot more that we do not know of.
